H A P P Y N E W Y E A R ! ! !

I hope everyone is enjoying their start to 2013:) As for me, I have work. Boo.

I really like this week’s TTT topic as it’ll be a great way to sort out what I’ve been meaning to read for so long and most of them have a sequel out this year, so it’s perfect!

1. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl — One I’ll definitely read before the movie is released, but even then I probably won’t have anyone to see it with anyway.

2. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare — I can’t recall why I put this series off for so long and went straight to The Infernal Devices series (which I love). Another one to read before the movie.

3. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn — It’s been almost a year since I first heard about this and since then I’ve been wanting to read it!

4. Delirium/Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver — Somehow I didn’t finish Delirium even though I was just a few chapters away and I was really enjoying it! I may have to start it again to refresh my memory, but I know I’ll go straight into Pandemonium afterwards.

5. Legend by Marie Lu — Um yeah, I’m not going to let this go by for another whole year!

6. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson — I need a funny book in my life and she’s scheduled for a signing at a local Barnes & Noble in March, so it’s wonderful timing;)

7. Everneath by Brodi Ashton — Another one that’s time for me to read. I sure do love the cover:)

8. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead — Yeah. I know>_<

9. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken — I don’t think I read any of the books I picked up at BEA, but of them this is the one I’m intrigued to start!

10. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling — I’ve heard mixed things about this, but I have to read it out of principle:P

Oh I really should give this list out! Okay maybe not since I don’t get a whole lot of gifts and cash is just as good as books:P Though I could easily just use my list from last week for most anticipated 2013 releases (because pre-orders count, right?), I’m actually going to dip into my wish list pile and see what’s been gathering dust…

(list is in no particular order)

1. Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2) by Lani Taylor — Oh how I want to know what happens with Karou and Akiva!

2. The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #2) by Michelle Hodkin — Noah Shaw. Yum. I swear it’s hard to concentrate when I go to an event where Michelle Hodkin is at and seeing the Noah from the trailers there! Haha

3. Seraphina (Seraphina #1) by Rachel Hartman

4. The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna

5. Every Day by David Levithan — I’ve heard nothing but great things about this one!

6. Mystic City (Mystic City #1) by Theo Lawrence

7. The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski

8. Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles #1) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl– Really want to read this before the movie comes out!

9. Tell the Wolves I’m Coming Home by Carol Rifka Brunt — I don’t read many contemporary Young Adult, but this seems worth it.

10. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn — the only non-YA on the list!

My Shelf Stuffers: The BEA Edition

Standard

The idea for My Shelf Stuffers comes from The Story Siren where I showcase my book haul for the week.

Well here it is! I didn’t include the books my brother got nor all the little swag buttons, bookmarks, etc. since I’m doing this post before I have to leave for work and no doubt afterwards when it’ll be close to 1am and I still have to wake up early. My fault for not getting a head start on this before, but you get the idea.

The Passage by Justin Cronin — came with the swag bag at registration! Haven’t read it, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on it so not sure if I’ll dive into any time soon.
Buy It: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

Ferocity Summer by Alissa Grosso — a story about teens, drugs, narcs and the choices one has to make to save their life
Buy It: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

Ashen Winter (Ashfall #2) by Mike Mullin — ARC. I haven’t read Ashfall yet so I’m a little behind, though I’ve heard great things so I’m excited to start it!
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository
Publication Date: October 16, 2012

Narc by Crissa-Jean Chappell — ARC. She was at the Teen Author Carnival that I attended and I liked the premise of this so I’m happy I was able to snag a copy!
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository
Publication Date: August 8, 2012

Seed by Ania Ahlborn — A horror story for fans of Stephen King. Seemed like a creepy read and it’s only been previously released as an ebook.
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository
Paperback Publication Date: July 17, 2012

Gone (Jack Caffery #5) by Mo Hayder — I remember seeing this with my sister at BN and she was interested in it, so maybe it’s one I’ll give to her. Neither of us has read this series nor heard of it, but a little mystery can be intriguing.
Buy It: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

The Stranger’s Woes (Laybrinths of Echo #2) by Max Frei — Found this and the following in the “Russia” section at BEA. This was among the limited English prints available, but what drew me to it was this excerpt from a review, “If Harry Potter smoked cigarettes and took certain matter-of-fact pleasure in administering tough justice, he might like Max Frei.” Haha… okay so what really got me was just the mere mention of Harry Potter.
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository
Paperback Publication Date: June 26, 2012

The Stranger (Labyrinths of Echo #1) by Max Frei — See above.
Buy It: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante — An adult murder-mystery of whodunit that seems intriguing!
Buy It: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harmon — ARC. Apparently the author was a midwife herself and I really don’t know a lot about midwives, so it may be an interesting read.
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker — ARC. Second book to come with registration swag bag! A YA coming of age story with a fantasy twist.

The Innocents by Lili Peloquin — ARC. YA, contemporary, gothic romance. Yeah okay I’ll give it a shot!

Summer and Bird by Katherine Catmull — ARC. A middle-grade fantasy about two sisters in search of their parents. Glad I picked this one up- looks really good!

Beta by Rachel Cohn — ARC. I actually haven’t heard of this before, but I know the author and apparently a lot of people added this to their TBR list on Goodreads so I guess it’s an anticipated one!
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken — ARC. Whoa. The premise of this is intriging and the early reviews rave about it! Can’t wait to start it!

Poison Princess by Kresley Cole — ARC. Someone had just dumped this in some random area I was in. So I took it;)

Jepp, Who Defied the Stars by Katherine Marsh — ARC. Never heard of this, but it looks like it’ll be a heart-filled fantasy read.
Pre-Order: Amazon (Kindle) | Book Depository
Publication Date: October 9, 2012

First collection:
Chew, Haunt and I Kill Giants — These are short excerpts of their graphic novels. I really don’t read a lot of comics nowadays, but I decided to give them to my boyfriend (after I read them of course).

Second collection:
G-Man — Signed by the creator,  Chris Giarrusso, since he was there anyway. I gave my extra copy (unsigned) to my nephew.
The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel — First chapter of the upcoming graphic novel. I was so happy I saw this since I wasn’t able to get one on Free Comic Book Day! I took one for Michele too because I knew she didn’t get one that day either;)
